America at Home: lecture by Cormac Murray MRIAI

Join Cormac Murray MRIAI at the RIAI on Thursday, 1 October for a fascinating exploration of the architectural and political story behind the American embassy in Dublin. An architect, educator and series editor at TYPE, Murray lectures at the Technological University Dublin School of Architecture, Building and Environment and is co-author of The Dublin Architecture Guide, 1937–2021. This event is part of our collaboration with the Dublin Festival of History.

Drawing on his new book, America at Home: The Architecture and Politics of the US Embassy Building in Dublin, this talk explores how the embassy building reflects the relationship between architecture, diplomacy and cultural identity in Ireland and the United States. Through design history, politics and urban context, Murray reveals the complex story of one of Dublin’s most significant twentieth-century buildings.
