The Irish construction sector has played a central role in Ireland's political and economic landscape for a number of decades. While supply has increased in recent years, the level of output is still insufficient to meet Ireland's housing needs. The quality of housing has also improved dramatically, though the legacy of defects remains a bone of contention. The sector is both a major source of jobs and a major source of emissions.
TASC is delighted to be partnering with the Chartered Institute of Building to launch a report on Modern Methods of Construction. MMC, or offsite construction, allows the possibility of a much improved built environment. Through offsite manufactured components, homes can be built more efficiently, quickly, and sustainably. Unlike some of our European neighbours, the sector has been slow to grow Ireland. Our report asks why, and what can be done about it.
