The Central Bank of Ireland Archives are hosting an online talk to discuss the previous headquarters of the bank – Sam Stephenson’s Dame Street Tower. The event will include panellists Dr. Miriam Fitzpatrick (Assistant professor at UCD and researcher in urban design) and recently retired Central Bank of Ireland employee Pete Sheil (Manager in Premises and Projects and organiser of the bank’s Open House events). The talk will cover topics such as the controversy surrounding the building's planning permission and height; the construction of Ireland’s only suspended building; thoughts on the public on the Brutalist style of the building; the staff's reactions to their new hi-tech work environment and ultra-modern furnishings; and the preservation of Commercial Buildings.
