The Great Lighthouses of Ireland (Gill Books) by David Hare is a new book based on the TV series of the same name, revealing the fascinating stories about Ireland’s most beautiful and striking lighthouses, as well as the inspirational men and women who lived and worked there. Charting the evolution of lighthouse design, from the 18th century through to today, these are stories of incredible and innovative feats of engineering, as well as daring and heroic rescues at sea. Complete with more than 300 stunning images, the book covers everything from history, biography, engineering and science, to art, wildlife and social history. This event is a unique opportunity to join the author and photographer himself as he leads the audience on a walking and talking tour of his exhibition in The Printworks, Dublin Castle, featuring a selection of imagery from the book.
