Curated by architects Peter Carroll, Peter Cody, Elizabeth Hatz, Mary Laheen, and Joseph Mackey, Ireland’s national pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023, In Search of Hy-Brasil, is coming to Galway City as part of the 8th edition of Architecture at the Edge Festival. This installation invites us to reimagine the vast interconnectedness of our land and ocean. As an island nation, we face urgent challenges—climate change, renewable energy, ethical food production, and biodiversity—requiring us to restore balance with the natural world.

Our islands’ resilience and creativity offer inspiration for more sustainable living. By bringing this installation to Solstice, the curators aim to engage an Irish audience in conversations about a shared vision for a sustainable future. The Island Celebrations programme features supporting exhibitions, film screenings, talks, tours, and symposia.

Stay tuned for upcoming events, including Island Conversations on 21st and 22nd September, 2.30-4.00pm. Follow @ArchAtTheEdge on Instagram for updates!

Architecture at the Edge

About Architecture at the Edge (AATE) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of architecture as culture. Established in Galway in 2017, it invites everyone to explore and understand the value of a well-designed built environment. We aim to demonstrate how design enhances everyday life and to inspire new ways of thinking about architecture.
