The term ‘lean construction’ is an adaptation of lean production techniques applied to the construction industry. Very broadly it can be characterised as techniques aimed at maximising value and minimising waste.

There is a long-established narrative whereby the construction sector is seen to perform in a way that is thought to be wasteful compared to other industries. The underlying argument is that it does not deliver good value for its customers. In part this is due to the unusual nature of construction, where, unlike a production line, each building is a one off. This seminar, developed by DesignID provides an insight into the benefits of designing in a lean manner.

This seminar will cover:
- Introduction to lean design.
- Carbon savings and initiatives.
- Project examples.

Lean construction: A targeted and collaborative approach to carbon reduction
