Join us at the Irish Architectural Archive on 11 June, 6–8pm for an evening celebrating the launch of Minding Her Business: Women, Architecture, and Design (Leuven University Press), edited by Alborz Dianat and Kathleen James-Chakraborty.
This new volume explores how women have influenced the development of modern architecture and design through a wide variety of entrepreneurial activities - from construction, editorial production, and real estate development, to the cultivation of social spaces and philanthropic interventions. Through a global focus, it enables us to understand the full scope of the impact that women have long had in shaping the built world around us.
The book’s editors will be joined by Lucía C. Pérez-Moreno, Professor of History & Theory of Architecture at the University of Zaragoza, whose work has been central to advancing feminist architectural historiography, in a discussion of the themes and provocations raised by the publication.
The evening will conclude with a wine reception.
We warmly invite all those interested in architecture, design, and women’s histories to join us for this special launch.
