Raheny Library is delighted to host the talk 'Reluctant Suburbanites: Guinness and Vernon Landlords and the Expansion of Dublin's Northside, 1840-1920' . Guest speaker Colm Lennon will illustrate the talk with images from his historical atlas of Clontarf, published by the Royal Irish Academy in association with Dublin City Council (2018). Colm Lennon, MRIA, is a former professor of history in Maynooth University and is the series editor with Jacinta Prunty of the Historic Town Atlas, Dublin suburbs series. He is widely published in early modern Irish history and author of 'IHTA, no. 19 Dublin, part II, 1610-1756' (2008) and co-author of 'John Rocque's Dublin: A Guide to the Georgian City' with John Montague (2010). He is also author of 'That Field of Glory: The Story of Clontarf from Battleground to Garden Suburb' (2014).
