Following on from the success of our inaugural event in 2023, INStone will be back hosting the Second National INStone Symposium, 2025, in the heart of the Burren in Boston, Co. Clare.

Join us for a two-day celebration of stone craftsmanship, conservation, and heritage education. This year, we will feature live demonstrations of best-practice conservation, such as live stone carving demonstrations by international master carvers - including artisans who worked on the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral. A programme of live demonstrations will also be provided by our heritage experts, showcasing best conservation practice and traditional techniques, to be utilised in all future conservation efforts across our Built Heritage.

This year’s Keynote Speaker will be internationally-acclaimed architect Shelley McNamara, co-founder and co-director of Grafton Architects, and whose presentation will be delivered on Wednesday the 14th.

Our range of speakers this year also include experts from Irish Landmark Trust, Limerick Civic Trust, Punch Consulting Engineers, Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage etc. and will touch on themes such as:

Conservation Engineering & Stone in Modern Architecture - Embracing the old whilst engaging in a conversation with the present
Lime in Ireland - Paying homage to traditional methods and looking toward advancements for the future
Guardians of Heritage - Preserving our past for the future
