Founded in 1978, Photo Museum Ireland has established a reputation as one of Ireland’s leading cultural institutions. Located in an award-winning building in Dublin’s cultural quarter, the Museum is Ireland’s national centre for contemporary photography.
Photo Museum Ireland is a charitable organisation whose primary goal is to promote the practice and appreciation of photography as an art form in Ireland.
Photo Museum Ireland is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, and is always free. Open Mondays by appointment for ongoing education, artists archiving and training. The museum is closed on Bank Holidays.
Inside Photo Museum Ireland is a specialist photography bookshop, exhibition spaces, artist production facilities including a darkroom, printing facilities and scanning suite. The main reception area and bookshop is on the ground floor. There are toilets on the first floor and basement floor. There is a lift and a staircase.
