For me, December is a time of headlong rush as we try to finish as many things as possible. Usually things calm down mid month and it is then that I start to think about getting into the mindset for the holidays.
The cold crisp weekends almost always send me to the War Memorial Gardens to walk aimlessly through the surprising beauty of Lutyen’s landscape. The link with Harry Clarke, and family in Cork, might send me to the Crawford Art Gallery for their annual, and quite festive, exhibition of his work, Harry Clarke: Bad Romance.
An unread Eileen Gray biography is waiting on my bedside table. A nice introduction to this would be a tour of the Eileen Gray collection at the National Museum, where I look forward to seeing her lacquer-work panels again.
As I didn’t manage to visit the Venice Biennial, I would be interested in attending the New Now Next talk; Idir and Thither. An added bonus to this is the inclusion of BothAndGroup whose focus on rural Ireland I enjoy.
Finally as I will doubtless end up rushing around town trying to manage my Christmas lists I have two exhibitions in mind; Drawing Time at the Royal Hibernian Academy and Interval Two (Dream Pool) by Ailbhe Ní Bhriain at the Kerlin Gallery.
